Enid D Hubbard
Enid D Hubbard grew up in Sussex and Kent, England. She first started writing at six, when her four-line poem about a robin was read out in class. She still has it.
In 1998, Enid and her husband went to Slovenia for two years. There, a woodpile and the imagined eyes of wood sprites sparked a story that she sent to her daughter in weekly chapters. That story became Song of the Silent.
Away from writing, Enid enjoys patchwork and quilting. Classical music accompanies her writing, and The Lord of the Rings remains her favourite book.

About Writing & Books
When did you first start writing?
I was six years old, and my four-line poem about a robin was read out in class. I still have it.
How long did it take you to write this book?
Two years, writing one chapter a week.
Do you prefer writing by hand, typing, or dictating?
Typing — you can delete as many times as you like.
What do you find most challenging about writing?
Having enough time.
Do you ever experience writer’s block, and how do you overcome it?
Infrequently, but when I do, I go for a walk and think through where the story is taking me. I find the words fall into place.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Patchwork and quilting.

Yes, classical music.
